Empowering Culture trough Business: Introducing Business Academies for Culture and Creative Young Professionals in rural and remote areas

The main objective of the project is to improve employability skills and job opportunities for young culture and creative professionals (CCYP) working or living in rural and remote areas and to reduce the existing gap between education and the labour market through career diversification and skills recognition.

Field research and focus groups will be carried out to identify the necessary skills needed for young people to increase their work skills and employment opportunities, as well as to develop entrepreneurial activities in the Cultural and Creative Sector. Emphasis will be placed on tools for access to finance, digitisation and digital marketing.

The target groups of the project are divided into:

  • Young cultural and creative professionals (CCYP) living and/or working in rural and remote areas
  • Small and medium-sized enterprises and associations of the cultural and creative industries
  • Local authorities in rural areas.

Through the project, Business Academies will be implemented to educate young people through innovative training programmes and the participation of experts from the business and cultural sectors.

The most important outcome of the process will be the creation and sustainable development of a prototype HUB (Centre/Hub/Core) in a rural area of Nicosia province to provide all support to young people for their professional development and especially for accessing financial instruments.

The creation of the prototype HUB and its guide called "Prototype Hub" aim to be a valuable tool for enriching local authorities' policy and a best practice for remote communities.

Overall, the project seeks to foster entrepreneurship, business innovation and extroversion, which are key tools for maintaining and increasing the young population in rural and remote areas for balanced territorial development.

The project will last 30 months, started on 3 January 2022 and will end on 2 July 2024. The project "Empowering Culture through Business" is co-funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ programme.
